The suspect was apprehended during a stealth operation in Agbado, Ogun State on Thursday, June 20, 2025, following months of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

According to Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, Akinwande has been on the police radar for over 10 years for his alleged involvement in:
